Hosted by the Discovery Green Conservancy’s board of directors and -presented by H-E-B, Gala on the Green raised $600,000.
Throughout the program, the vitality of Discovery Green is on display with lively dance performances from Naach Houston and Kinder HSPVA Concert Dancers. Houstonian Kechi Okwuchi sings “Hallelujah” in tribute to those who lost their lives to Covid-19 accompanied by an original arrangement composed and performed by Kinder HSPVA Jazz student Ian Dessaur. The gala celebration culminates in a one-of-a-kind finale spectacle featuring J&D Entertainment Artists and the Ernest Walker Band, featuring Werner Richmond.
Special appearances are made by KPRC2 anchor Christine Noёl, H-E-B Public Affairs Manager Lacey Dalcour Salas, and pal H-E-Buddy, Comcast – Houston Region, Director of Community Impact Cyndy Garza Roberts and KTSU General Manager Ernest Walker.
Discovery Green Conservancy annual budget of $3 million maintains the park and its amenities, keeps the garden green and provides the free cultural and healthy living programming so many have come to depend on.

The money raised will support the conservancy’s mission to guide and operate the 12-acre park in the center of downtown that serves as a village green for Houston, a source of health and happiness and a window into the diversity of arts and traditions that enrich life in Houston.
