We are sad to announce that the AAPI Amplified event has officially been canceled due to the weather forecasted for this weekend.


AAPI Amplified (Free Event)

Join Houston First Corporation on June 5th as we amplify the voices of the Asian American Pacific Islander community.  HFC will celebrate and support Houston’s vibrant AAPI communities with an evening of traditional and contemporary musical and dance performances, an Asian-inspired fashion show and an outdoor market featuring local AAPI-owned businesses, artisans and chefs. The event is free and open to the public. 

The night will close with a one-of-a-kind fashion show featuring Houston-based lines: Danny Nguyen Couture, Kimono Zulu, Mysterious by NPN and Poshak Fashion & Style.

Vietnamese-American fashion designer Danny Nguyen has been in the forefront of fashion, style and innovation. He has designed for many celebrities and socialites such as Jennie Mai and Steve Aoki and Carolyn Farb. DN Couture offers a wide range of designs including women’s formal wear, bespoke menswear, bridal and traditional Vietnamese dresses called Aoi Dai.   

Kimono Zulu, a creative exploration led by Tina Zulu, a Filipina-American will present a collection of reimagined vintage Japanese kimonos. Kimono Zulu draws upon the rich history of traditional Japanese attire, mainly the kimono, and its influence on other cultures throughout Asia and the West. Through artist collaborations, Tina Zulu inspires and initiates the visual conversation for artists to incorporate their own design sensibilities into the vision for the brand, bringing new life to vintage kimonos in a thoughtful, beautiful and often playful way. 

Houston based fashion designer, Nicholas Phat Nguyen was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with a childhood dream of becoming a major fashion designer. He came to the United States as an international student at 15, graduated with an International Business Degree and decided to stay in Houston and follow his dreams as a designer. He devoted all of his free time to studying every aspect of fashion design, and that is when Mysterious by N.P.N was born. 

Pakistani-American designer Sameera Faridi has owned and operated Poshak Fashion & Style for over 15 years in Houston.  In her eponymous design studio, Sameera Faridi Design Studio, she offers clients custom looks from her South Asian luxury bridal collection.  Each design is sensual and decadent, balanced with sophistication and elegance.  


Lee’s Golden Dragon was established in 1974. The dancers perform at a variety of events around Houston and perform lion dances, dragon dances, ball walking and acrobatics and drum exhibitions.

Silambam Houston Dance Company is the performing wing of Silambam Houston. Comprised of stellar performers trained to professional level in various Indian classical dance forms, the Company represents the fruition of collective decades of effort and dedication.
