City Lights Downtown Holiday Magic Kick-off Party

Downtown is about to shine again. City Lights—presented by Kroger with support from CITGO and the Houston Association of Realtors—is officially kicking off the holiday season on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. on The Plaza at Avenida Houston.

If you’ve been waiting for that moment when the holidays really feel like they’ve arrived, this is it. The big highlight is the annual tree lighting, and this year they’re going all out with a 42-foot tree that’s sure to steal the show once the lights come on.

The plaza will be buzzing with live music, strolling performers, and a ton of festive energy. There will also be holiday craft-making, which is always a hit with families (and honestly, adults too). It’s one of those evenings where there’s something happening in every corner, and you can just wander, listen, snack, take photos, and enjoy being outside in the middle of all the holiday excitement.
