Día de los Muertos

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a vibrant Mexican holiday where families and friends come together to celebrate and honor those who have passed away with special foods and festivities.

Attendees can enjoy engaging art activities, artist demonstrations, and a variety of vendors. Expect lively cultural performances and music by Houston’s own Nick Gaitan, who will be playing Tejas Roots Music, including boleros, Tex Mex, and Chicano Soul. Additionally, Discovery Green has commissioned Houston artist Angel Quesada to create a community ofrenda, or altar, to help visitors commemorate their loved ones during this special occasion.

Guests are welcome to place images or mementos of their loved ones and beloved pets on the community altar. (Please only bring copies of photos; do not bring irreplaceable items.)

Parking and Transportation

Guests coming to performances can find garage parking in the Avenida North and Avenida South parking garages, located at each end of the George R. Brown Convention Center More information on rates and transportation can be found here.
