Over two years ago, trucks and construction cones came to the front of the George R. Brown Convention Center, and the dream of a new downtown entertainment district begun. Now, as the Super Bowl Fan Experience is ready, signs are up, and Discovery Green has transformed to become a Fox Sports studio, Avenida Houston is ready to take the main stage.
At this moment, all four restaurants planned along Avenida de las Americas (Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Grotto Downtown) are open; serving up a variety of delicious foods. Additional dining options such as Biggios and Walker Street Kitchen are open in the Marriott Marquis, a building that rose from a surface parking lot.
It has been a journey that started with a vision. In Avenida Houston, you'll find excellent restaurants, thought-provoking art and an open-air space to gather with friends and family. The plaza in front of the convention center will be a place for fans before and after the game.
As the Super Bowl Live and NFL Fan Experience activities go on until February 5, Avenida will be the place to be! Afterwards, it will continue to be a center for entertainment, retreat and culinary delight for Houstonians and visitors alike.
